Fire Risk Assessment Services

Our Fire Risk Assessments are designed to meet the specific requirements of your premises and will meet all the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

We offer our clients two levels of fire safety consultancy, standard service and full consultancy; the content of the fire risk assessments for both levels of service is identical. This ensures that our clients receive the best possible service that meets their organisational requirements.

Standard Service

This includes the conducting of the fire risk assessment following the 5-step risk assessment process as recommended by HM Government guidance documents, HSE and the guidance documentation issued by Fire and Rescue Services:

  • Identification of the Fire Hazards
  • Identifying Persons at Risk
  • Evaluation of the Risks (Eliminate, Reduce or Control)
  • Recording of the Significant Findings
  • Monitor and Review Process

Our fire safety audit process covers in excess of 160 questions to identify any significant findings. These are recorded and a risk analysis conducted to arrive at a risk rating. A comprehensive action plan is then produced with realistic time scales for completion and review, providing the client with a range of options to meet their legal obligations and ensuring the most appropriate cost benefit solution. All our assessments include a fire emergency plan as required by the Fire Safety Order. Extensive research is then undertaken and references made to relevant Guides, Codes of Practice and British Standards. The fire risk assessment is then sent to the client as a professionally bound document and also e mailed.

Full Consultancy Service

Our full consultancy service includes all of the above plus:

  • Consultation on the significant findings and actions required by the responsible person on the premises at the time of the assessment. A detailed further consultation may be required depending on the complexity of the premises and findings.
  • 12 months mediation with the local fire service should a fire safety officer inspect your premises, including a response to any reports or enforcement or prohibition notices issued.
  • Mediation with any enforcing authorities such as HSE, OFSTED, Care Standards and insurance companies on issues relating to the assessment.
  • 12 months telephone advice and support (office hours Monday to Friday) on any fire safety related matter, including building control and planning applications provided that additional visits to the premises are not required.

"We have always been conscious of keeping our health and safety and fire risk assessments up-to-date. However, it wasn’t until our recent Fire Risk Assessment from Total Fire Services Ltd that we realised there is a statutory requirement for staff to have fire training. We have been delighted with the training that Total Fire Services has provided for 80 plus teachers and support staff. Our staff were not enthused by the idea of fire training as part of their INSET, but Darren delivers a powerfully informative yet entertaining presentation which engages even the most challenging of audiences.

We look forward to welcoming Darren back next year for an update and highly recommend Total Fire Services for the delivery of fire training to the education sector."

First Aid Training Courses

Total Fire Services can offer the following HSE accredited First Aid courses as well as defibrillator training and supply of the Zoll AED plus defibrillators. Please contact us to discuss your precise requirements.

First Aid at Work

Our First Aid at Work course complies with the current Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and is approved by the HSE. Successful candidates receive a certificate showing their qualification as a First Aider in the work place which is valid for three years.

First Aid at Work Re-qualification

This is a refresher course for those who need to renew their First Aid at Work certificate and whose current certificate is still valid.

Emergency Aid for Appointed Persons

This course is ideal for the smaller workplace where there are few health & safety risks and a nominated person is required to take charge in the event of illness or accident. Appointed Persons also give support to qualified First Aiders in larger organisations where the business operates over several floors or buildings, or shifts are operated.

Adult Basic Life Support & Automated External Defibrillation

Over 270,000 people suffer a heart attack every year in the U.K. Unfortunately 30% will not make it to hospital alive. The majority might have been saved had their heart been defibrillated in the first five minutes of their cardiac arrest. An AED — with a trained operator — at the sight of a sudden cardiac arrest can raise the chance of survival from 0% to 80%
